Short bio

Ronnie Haran was the booker at the Whisky a Go Go when the Sunset Strip became the center of rock and roll. In May 1966 she saw The Doors fired from the London Fog and made them the Whisky's house band. She managed Love, the first woman to manage a rock band, and walked Jac Holzman into Elektra's signing of The Doors. She carried a camera everywhere. Her archive of more than half a million photographs, Hendrix to Hitchcock, is only now being opened. She is 87 and lives in Montecito, California.

Facts you can check

Five stories nobody has written yet

The woman who found The Doors

She saw them fired at the London Fog on May 9, 1966 and had them on the Whisky stage a week later. Manzarek, Densmore and Krieger all say so on the record.

First woman to manage a rock band

Arthur Lee asked her to fire his manager on their first phone call. She ran Love, the band The Doors wanted to be as big as, and her photograph is on the back of Forever Changes.

Half a million unseen photographs

Hendrix, Bowie, Marley, Warhol, Hitchcock, Polanski, Dolly Parton, a young Michael Jackson. Most never published. One is released each month from The Vault.

She rewired the Whisky a Go Go

At 26 she sold the West Hollywood Chamber on a kitchen so teenagers could get in, dropped the door age from 21 to 18 and booked The Young Rascals, The Doors, Them and The Turtles.

The Doors' debut turns 60 on January 4, 2027

The booker who put them in front of Elektra is 87, living in Montecito, and ready to talk. She has not told most of these stories on camera.
